Entrepreneurial Spotlight- Ultra Fencing and Predator Control

Entrepreneurs Andy Schmidt and Dominic Zoucha were interviewed by two Twin River FBLA students Marcie Spitz and Lindy Schmidt. Andy and Dom co-own Ultra Fencing and Predator Control out of Monroe, Nebraska. The members asked them some questions about their business. They stated that some of the risks you could take at being your own company owner are trying to make the right decisions to make your business grow and keep good employees. The men stated, pros are being your own boss and seeing what you've accomplished with your business. They also stated that the cons are stress during the busy times of the year and the unknown of what the economy is going to be like year to year. The members asked what adjustments has your business made to stay competitive. They said one adjustment is taking the time to experiment with different techniques on the job site to build the best product for the customer in the most efficient way possible. Work ethic and a variety of real word experience helped the most when they were starting their business. Their biggest challenge was starting with the bare minimum equipment and tools. They overcame that by investing back as quickly as they could with new updated equipment and tools. They say they would encourage others to follow the entrepreneurship path. The members also asked how many years did it take them to start gaining profit and what is something they would like to share with young adults looking to open their own business. Their business took a couple of years to start being profitable and their message to all the young adults is to gain as much knowledge and insight as you can from other successful businesses in your field of interest.
